Completed in 1865, this watercolor painting shows the dramatic climax from the 8 labor of Hercules, who was ordered to capture the 4 flesh-eating horses belonging to King Diomedes. Hercules killed the king in battle and fed his body to the horses. The author of this artwork is French symbolist painter Gustave Moreau.
