You need to find water in the desert at once.

Sit in the shade and try not to sweat much. Move around only during the night when it's cooler. Some people have died of thirst after only 4 hours of looking for water, while others have survived up to 2 days by saving what they have.

#9 – Earthquake

Stand in a doorway during an earthquake.

Depending on the age of the building this may be the worst advice. In modern structures there are much better places to hide, for instance under a sturdy table or desk.

#8 – Eating Plants

Eating plants is secure.

Not always. To avoid something poisonous perform the universal edibility test before ingestion at first. Even if you find plants that aren't poisonous, they probably don't have many nutrients anyway so it's just a waste of time.

#7 – Moss

Moss only grows on the north side of trees.

This is popular misconception. In the northern hemisphere it may sometimes grow better on the northern side of the tree only as far as that side doesn't receive direct sunlight. That's why do not depend on this.

#6 – Alcohol

Alcohol keeps you warm.

Don't drink too much to stay warm. It's allusion that alcohol only makes you feel warmer. Moreover, it decreases your internal body temperature.
