Robert Musil, 1,774 pages

The three-volume novel, "history of ideas", unfolding in the last days of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy in 1913. It covers a range of important topics: the truth and the opinion, ideas and society; in many ways it anticipates problems that bedevil Europe since 1918. Unfortunately, the text was not completed, as Musil died before he could give the corresponding final narrative. The book is not the author brought neither fame nor fortune, despite the 13 years of working on it.
