The Abbey Library of Saint Gallen was founded by Saint Othmar, the founder of the Abbey of St. Gallen. The library collection is the oldest in Switzerland, and is one of earliest and most important monastic libraries of over the world. It is famous for its stunning interior and a huge collection of rare and unique medieval books and manuscripts. The library holds 160,000 volumes.
