Bill Stoneham's painting, written in 1972, became famous, frankly, due to not a very good reputation. According to the information on E-bay, some time after the purchase the painting was found in a landfill. On the first night, as the picture was in the house of family, which found it, the daughter ran to her parents in tears, complaining that "children are fighting in the picture."
Kim Smith who purchased it in 2000, constantly receives angry letters demanding to burn the picture. Also in the newspapers were written that in the hills of California ghosts sometimes appear as two peas similar to children in the picture by Stoneham.
