via upload.wikimedia.org complain

During the construction of this famous bridge, 10,000 people were died. And to this day it is a symbol of cruelty of the Japanese occupation of Southeast Asia. The bridge was destroyed in 1944. Only rounded steel structures were saved and rectangular middle parts of the bridge were rebuilt after the war by the Japanese as war reparations.
