According to Mwangi Kibathi from Transparency International in Nairobi, Burundi is the most corrupted country in the region. A survey conducted among the citizens of the country dispelled any doubts: 36.7% of respondents are faced with officials in the state institutions, which required for their services a special fee (in other words, bribe). The tax office is the most corrupted public institution in the country.
