In Australia, a man found a treasure of approximately 650 years old while digging the backyard in order to expand a garden pool in 2007. There were more than 200 rings, brooches, ornate belt buckles, gold-plated silver plates encrusted with pearls, and fossilized coral.

In 1978, in California Gary Johnson saw a large rock poking out of the ground with a bone pattern in it nearby his backyard. He called expert and asked them to inspect it properly, but the expert said it had no value. 35 years after that in February 2014, when Johnson was watching the news and saw a huge piece of a 12-million-year-old sperm whale skull found nearby from his backyard. Man called another expert, a paleontologist at the Natural History Museum, who estimated the fossil to be the 14-16 million years old remains of a rare baleen whale.
