The Atacama Desert is the driest desert on Earth. In an average 10 mm of precipitation per year falls there. The desert has an extremely small amount of vegetation, as well as the inhabitants. Despite the harsh conditions, San Pedro de Atacama is located in the midst of the desert. About 5,000 people live there.
