In May 2003, when Aaron was crossing the Bluejohn Canyon in Canyonlands National Park in Utah, his right hand got caught under a boulder. Once the last reserves of food and water finished, Aaron cut off his hand. With traumatic shock and suffering from severe blood loss, the climber was wandering in the wilderness, until he met travelers from the Netherlands.Aron Ralston became the prototype of the hero of the film "127 Hours" directed by Danny Boyle.
