In April 1986, in Ukrainian town, Pripyat, was the worst nuclear power plant accident in human history, releasing large quantities of radioactive particles into the atmosphere, which spread over much of the western USSR and Europe. 31 people died, but long-term effects such as cancers and deformities are still being accounted for even today. There is talk that millions of people have been affected by the tragedy.
